The First Jazz Piano Quartet

The group’s actual name was The Initial Contemporary Jazz Piano Quartet plus they performed and recorded in the past due ’50s for Coral and Warner Bros, though it appears none from the material available it to album. Eddie Costa, Dick Marx, Hank Jones and Johnny Costa made up the pianists for some from the 1958 times. Irving Joseph, Bernie Leighton, Moe Wechsler and Morris Nanton do some 1958 as well as the 1959 sessions, supported by bassist Milt Hinton and drummer Osie Johnson.
