An obscure and potentially fictitious all-girl ’60ss garage area band from Nashville, Tennessee, the Feminine Complex comprised singer/guitarist Mindy Dalton, bassist Jean Williams, vocalist/tambourine player Judi Griffith, organist Pame Stephens, and drummer Lana Napier. Based on star, the group was produced by Williams and Napier in 1966 while both had been sophomores at Nashville’s Maplewood SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. Originally called the Pivots, a moniker recommended by the young ladies’ basketball trainer, they produced their debut in a college talent present — after recruiting teammates Dalton and Griffith — dressed up in complementing pantsuits and executing covers of modern strikes. After adding Stephens, the quintet rechristened themselves the Female Complex and started making regular performances at Skateland, after that Nashville’s hottest summer months teenager hangout. In an area scene usually dominated by man combos just like the Anglo Saxons, the Female Complex quickly gained a cult pursuing, and soon these were touring throughout Tennessee. They captured the eye of A&R veterinarian Dee Kilpatrick, who’d simply produced the Athena Information label.
