The Features certainly are a psychedelic rock outfit that plays fresh, off-kilter pop that appears like a head-on collision between Ray Davies and Elvis Costello using the Elephan 6 Collective picking right up the pieces and putting them back again together within the American South. Produced in the tiny, hidden city of Sparta, Tennessee, guitarist and vocalist Matt Pelham, bassist Roger Dabbs, keyboardist Parrish Yaw, and drummer Rollum Haas started playing their quirky and contagious pop because the Features around Pelham’s multi-colored personal ruminations. Their self-titled debut EP, released in 1997, drew intensely on dense keyboards and a genuine, updated new influx sound. THE START EP — a classicist pop record, simultaneously as lush and sun-dappled because the Shins, so when directed and probing because the Jam, implemented using a U.K. discharge on Brutal Panda in 2003. The record was released in america by General in March of 2004, with somewhat altered tracking. Other U.K. 7″s hardly ever noticed a U.S. local discharge, but the THE START was finally unleashed stateside in March 2004. Display A, The Features debut complete duration, was relesed in Sept of 2004 by General.
