Biography
A five-piece band of Turkish gypsy music artists located in Istanbul, the Erkose Outfit comprises three brothers: Ali who takes on the kaman (Turkish violin), Selahaddin who takes on the ud (Middle Eastern lute) and clarinettist Barbaros Erkose. They’re became a member of by their cousins, Gungor Hosses on darbuka drum and Serdar Ucal who takes on the zither-like kanun. Erkose Outfit have already been playing collectively since they had been children and people of the group will also be involved with Istanbul’s pop, jazz and traditional music moments. On Tzigane – The Gypsy Music Of Turkey, because the name suggests, they play traditional gypsy music, with enthusiasm and crazy energy, combining the musics of Anatolia, Greece, Balkans and the center East.
