Biography

Disenfranchised and discouraged with Britain’s early-’90s rave scene, previous club promoters and DJs Charlie Hall and Lol Hammond shaped the Drum Golf club like a combination production/remix act. Influenced by organizations like Spiral Tribe, DiY and Tonka within the growing free-festival circuit, the duo toured with Orbital within the MIDI Circus during 1993, and their debut recording Everything IS CURRENTLY appeared immediately after, on Big Existence Records (also the house from the Orb). After remixing Hardkiss, Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia and Program 7 amongst others, the set was quickly tagged among the most popular remixing groups in Britain. Their follow-up Drums Are Harmful was a discovery of sorts, making an American launch through Instinct in 1994. Instinct also recorded Hall and Hammond’s important concert looks on 1995’s Reside in Iceland. Later on that year, nevertheless, Hammond shaped the breakbeat work Slab! with Nina Walsh.
