The Dragons

Led by siblings Doug, Dennis, and Daryl Dragon, the Dragons’ jazzy Western world Coast psychedelic rock and roll fell somewhere within the soft waves of Surf’s Up-era Shore Boys, the smoky late-night chill of Booker T. & the MG’s, and the overall weirdness from the Doors. Each one of the brothers acquired tooled throughout the Los Angeles picture with varying levels of achievement before coming jointly in 1970 for the task that would ultimately offer them a reputed put in place the esteemed rock and roll & move underground. Recorded within the off hours with high-school friend and engineer Donn Landee at Hollywood’s Sunwest Documenting Studios in 1970, BFI (Blue Pushes Cleverness) was shopped around to several labels, most of whom considered it unmarketable. One tune, “Meals for My Spirit,” did show up on a browse film soundtrack that Dennis stated in the middle-’70s, nonetheless it wasn’t until 2007 (37 years later on) that BFI noticed the light of day time, rescued from obscurity by London-based 3rd party record label Ninja Melody (DJ Meals, Coldcut).
