Biography

A bright and harmonious vocal group within the tradition from the Boswell Sisters as well as the Andrews Sisters, the Dinning Sisters worked within the Midwest within the ’40s and early ’50s. The Dinnings had been a musical category of nine kids, most of whom began singing tranquility in church, and spent their Weekend afternoons performing for fun. Three from the sisters, twins Jean and Ginger and sister Lou, began to earn amateur performing contests prior to the age group of ten, and later on started to perform with old sibling Ace’s orchestra. With little encounter but a whole lot of ambition, the teenagers remaining their Oklahoma hometown and journeyed to Chicago, where they auditioned for NBC radio. These were employed and continued to be for seven years, and eventually became the best paid radio work within the Windy Town. The group underwent several lineup changes over time (Lou was changed in 1946 by Jayne Bundesen, who was simply in turn changed by Tootsie Dinning in 1952), but their albums for Capitol offered regularly well, including their debut launch Songs from the Dinning Sisters which kept the top i’m all over this the graphs for 18 weeks. Relationships and kids ultimately demanded the act’s attentions, however the family members remained involved with music, from Jean Dinning composing the music “Teenager Angel” towards the sisters’ nephew Dean playing bass for alterna-rockers Toad the Damp Sprocket.
