The Devil Dogs

While saving an album in 1989, NEW YORK punk music group the Rat Bastards imploded because of typical musical distinctions, and two associates, Andy Gortler (electric guitar, vocals) and Steve Baise (bass, vocals), continued with the task because the Devil Canines. Influenced especially by ’60s garbage rock and roll (Sonics, Wailers), the Phil Spector “Wall structure of Sound,” as well as the big NY punk sound from the ’70s (Ramones, NY Dolls, Dictators), the Devil Canines went on release a a slew of LPs, EPs, live albums, and 45s. Gortler originally produced a band known as Gilligan’s Revenge in the first ’80s, which became Token Entrance and then Dark Train Jack port after his departure. Baise performed in a fresh Jersey-based browse/punk combo, PT109, before signing up for the Rat Bastards. Drummer “Mighty” Joe Vincent, who also performed in PT109, became a member of the group in 1991.
