The Deltairs

Regardless of the encouragement and support of Al Browne, a manufacturer and disc jockey for Newark, NJ-based radio place WHBI, the Deltairs didn’t follow-up on the 1957 hit “Lullaby from the Bells,” documented using the accompaniment of Browne and his orchestra. Although they released two singles, “Position on the Altar” and “WHO Have Idea,” in 1958, neither charted as well as the five females separated. Produced in Jamaica, Queens, NY, the Deltairs showcased the business lead vocals of Barbara Thompson, supported with the soulful harmonies of Barbara Lee, Carol Stansbury, Thelma Stansbury, and Shirley Taylor.
