The Delta Rhythm Boys

Using their exciting Jubilee-style harmonizing, the Delta Rhythm Boys helped to bridge the R&B vocal sets of the 1930s and ’40s as well as the doo wop sets of the 1950s. While they capped their early achievement with advanced renditions of traditional music, “Dry Bone fragments” and Ellington’s “Consider the ‘A’ Teach,” in 1941, these were still performing as the rock and roll era became dominating in the middle-’50s. They made an appearance on radio displays, including Amos and Andy as well as the Joan Davis Display, Broadway, in such displays as Sing Out the news headlines and Popular Mikado, and several movies, including Bing Crosby and Rita Hayworth’s 1st movie, YOU MAY NEVER Get Affluent, in 1941, and Stone Revue and Tempo and Blues Revue in 1955. The extended set of film pants where they appeared consist of Big Music group Parade, Banquet of Melody, Choo Choo Golf swing, Crazy Home, Easy to check out, Follow the Young boys, and Harlem Stone The Delta Tempo Boys had been extremely flexible. Furthermore to recording independently, with piano accompaniment, the quintet offered history vocals for Charlie Barnet, Mildred Bailey, Ella Fitzgerald, and Ruth Dark brown. The origins from the Delta Tempo Boys trace back again to 1934 when vocalists Carl Jones, Traverse Crawford, Kelsey Pharr, and Otha Lee Gaines and pianist/arranger Rene DeKnight had been learners at Langston School in Langston, Fine. Moving to Dillard School, in New Orleans, in 1936, they caused Dr. Frederick Hall as the brand new Orleans Quintet as well as the Frederick Hall Quintet.
