The Deacons — never to be confused using the NORTH PARK, CA, blues music group from the same name — was the backing music group of Chicago soul star Syl Johnson and included his sibling, guitarist Jimmy Johnson. Their lone charting one was an instrumental edition of Syl Johnson’s traditional “Sock It if you ask me.” The one released by Shama Information managed to get to amount 24 R&B on Billboard’s graph in past due 1968.
