The Davis Sisters

The group was founded by Ruth “Baby Sis” Davis in Philadelphia. Various other associates included Alfreda, Audrey, and Thelma Davis; Imogene Greene; Curtis Dublin on piano; Jackie Verdell, business lead vocalist. They documented for the Savoy label until 1962. Verdell documented secular edges for Peacock 1961-1964. Though a quintet, they sounded such as a little choir using their complete sound. Four associates died in split but tragic styles. One was burnt to loss of life. Ruth passed away in 1970, while still a girl, after fighting diabetes, liver organ disease, and kidney disease.
