The Dagoes

Created in 1979, the Dagoes had been an Australian rock-band who performed a freewheeling mixture of ’60s garage area, new wave, and punk. Early denizens from the Adelaide indie picture, these were known for his or her spirited concert events which would sometimes feature up to nine players, many of them implementing ridiculous Italian pseudonyms like Johnny Tomato and Tony Rome (actual name Neil Perryman), the second option of whom acted as the group’s primary songwriter and business lead vocalist. Between 1980 and 1983, the Dagoes released a number of singles and EPs on bandmember Doug “Frankie” Thomas’ Adelaide-based indie label Greasy Pop (the Spikes, Exploding White colored Mice, Primitive Painters). Though a crafty and extremely charismatic pressure, their music produced little impact beyond their indigenous South Australia plus they disbanded in 1983. In 2015, American reissue label Light in the Attic released a compilation of Dagoes singles known as Supreme, which designated the band’s 1st ever worldwide launch.
