The Czars

After spending six years as students in Germany, vocalist John Grant came back to Denver, CO, and formed the first incarnation from the Czars with bassist Chris Pearson, drummer Jeff Linsenmaier, and a revolving door of guitarists. Andy Monley, who acquired used Pearson in Jux State, offered his providers on guitar and finally became a full-time member. The music group sent a duplicate of the self-produced CD towards the Cocteau Twins’ Simon Raymonde, who acquired just began his very own label — Bella Union — with bandmate Robin Guthrie. Impressed using the band’s different mixture of shoegaze and choice country, Raymonde ultimately flew the music group to his Sept Sound studio room to record 2000’s Before…But Longer. The Ugly People Vs. the stunning People implemented in 2001. The Czars released two even more albums before breaking up in past due 2004. Wanting to continue his music profession, Grant transferred to NY and performed being a back-up musician for Midlake as well as the Flaming Lip area. He also started focusing on a single album using the support of Midlake’s associates, and the causing Queen of Denmark premiered in 2010.
