The Cookers

Jazz supergroup the Cookers include a couple of journeyman music artists who all play passionate, high-energy post-bop in the custom of such groupings as Artwork Blakey’s Jazz Messengers and Horace Silver’s ’60s ensembles. Produced in 2007, the group originally included saxophonists Billy Harper and Craig Helpful, trumpeters Eddie Henderson and David Weiss, pianist George Wires, bassist Cecil McBee, and drummer Billy Hart. The Cookers possess released many albums, including Warriors (2010), Ensemble the First Rock (2010), and Believe (2012). In 2014, the group came back with its 4th studio album, Period & Time Once again, which featured participant Donald Harrison on saxophone. 2 yrs later, they shipped The Call from the Wild and Tranquil Heart.
