The Congress of Wonders

Biography

From the SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA Bay Area, the Congress of Wonders comedy team produced several albums reflecting the concerns of the late-’60s/early-’70s hippie counterculture: drugs, sex, and political/social satire. Just like the Firesign Theater and Country wide Lampoon, they utilized the studio room as an instrument to improve their sketches instead of just record them for posterity, incorporating sound files and firmly edited overlapping dialogue. They weren’t quite as advanced, and were just a little much less subtle (and much more stoner-directed) within their brand of laughter, occasionally framing it within mock advertisements, cleaning soap operas, and takes on.
