The Channels

Biography

While never getting a work of strikes, the Channels were being among the most popular East Coast doo wop ensembles. Larry Hampden, Billy Morris, and Edward Doulphin had been charter members from the Stations, who shaped in 1955. They began with two part-time people, but then consumed business lead vocalist Earl Michael Lewis and Clifton Wright through the Lotharios. Lewis became their primary songwriter and he penned their best-known strike, “The Closer YOU MIGHT BE.” The Stations also brought a brand new design to doo wop performing making use of their practice of starting a verse in five-part tranquility, after that having Lewis sing business lead within the bridge. Later on produces like “The Gleam within your Attention” and “I MUST SAY I Love You” had been superbly performed, but under no circumstances got the press needed for nationwide recognition. They later on recorded for a number of labels (including Eliminated, Fury, Port, Strike, Enjoy, and Groove) with several personnel changes.
