The atmospheric pop music group the Chameleons formed in Manchester, Britain, in 1981 in the ashes of several regional groups: vocalist/bassist Tag Burgess began using the Cliches, guitarists Reg Smithies and Dave Fielding arrived in the Years, and drummer John Lever (who quickly replaced founding member Brian Schofield) originated using the Politicians. After building themselves with some high-profile BBC periods, the Chameleons agreed upon to Epic and debuted using the EP Nostalgia, a tense, moody established made by Steve Lillywhite which highlighted the one “In Shreds.” The quartet was shortly released from its agreement with Epic, but agreed upon to Statik and came back in 1983 using the band’s first full-length work, Script from the Bridge.
