Biography

Australian indie-pop band the Cat’s Miaow shaped in-may, 1992; a quartet made up of members from the incestuous Melbourne music picture, the lineup highlighted vocalist Kerrie (previously of the Defeat Poets and Tra La La), guitarist Bart (from Blairmailer and Gal of the Globe), bassist Andrew (also of Blairmailer, along with the Ampersands) and drummer Cameron (ex-Girl of the Globe). Recording on the primitive four-track, on the next 2 yrs the Cat’s Miaow released some cassettes on the tiny Aussie label Toytown, including Small Baby Sour Puss, Family pet Sounds, the wonderful From My Screen and How Do Everything Get Therefore Fucked Up?; finally, in 1996 the U.S. label Bus End released A Kiss along with a Cuddle, a compilation from the cassettes’ greatest monitors. Songs for women to Sing — another assortment of EPs, live monitors and unissued materials including “Capture the Moon,” extracted from a divide one with Stereolab — implemented in 1997. Following a couple of ambient-influenced recordings released beneath the name Hydroplane, in 1999 the Cat’s Miaow came back using the Long Goodbye, their entrance in Darla Information’ carrying on “Bliss Out” series.
