Biography

The Cathedral Quartet were among the earliest gospel performing groups to become spawned and suffered by television exposure. Originally referred to as the Weatherford Quartet, these were structured by Earl Weatherford — among the main element early people was Glen Payne, who join just a little later on. The group was carefully from the ministry of Rex Humbard, the tv screen evangelist, and was the resident carrying out group at his Cathedral of Tomorrow in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, that he broadcast nationally (and later on internationally) every Weekend for decades, beginning in 1958. In 1963, Earl Weatherford relocated to California, departing the group being a trio of Payne, Bobby Clark, and Danny Koker, who continuing to perform on the Cathedral of Tomorrow and had been soon hired because the Cathedral Trio. Bass vocalist George Younce emerged aboard in 1964 as well as the Cathedral Quartet happened. They prospered within this placing for four years, until Bobby Clark and Danny Koker, who was simply also a gifted pianist and do their arrangements, still left the group. These were changed by Mack Tauton and George Amon Webster, but amid many of these inner adjustments, the group also discovered the impetus to keep the Cathedral of Tomorrow. By 1999, nevertheless, Younce and Payne regarded the inevitable progress from the calendar along with a farewell tour was arranged, which Payne didn’t survive — he passed away of cancers on Oct 15 of this year, midway with the tour.
