The Castaways

Best remembered for his or her garage-rock perennial “Liar Liar,” the Castaways shaped in 1962 across the nucleus of guitarist Roy Hensley, bassist Dick Roby and drummer Denny Craswell; originally founded only to perform at a fraternity party, the group demonstrated such a smashing achievement that it continued to be a continuing concern, growing to a quintet with the next additions of business lead guitarist Bob Folschow and keyboardist Jim Donna. The Castaways’ lone strike, “Liar Liar” was compiled by Donna and released within the Soma label in 1965, achieving the quantity 12 slot within the U.S. graphs on the effectiveness of its inimitable echo-drenched vocals and wheezing keyboards. Some follow-up attempts flopped, nevertheless, and despite an appearance in the 1967 film It’s a Bikini Globe, the Castaways’ profession floor to a halt, even though the band frequently performed reside in the years to follow.
