The Caravelles

A lady duo comprising Lois Wilkinson and Andrea Simpson from London, Britain, whose peak saving period was from 1963 to 1968. These were co-workers who interested at office celebrations and amateur displays. Prompted by co-workers to lower an archive, they do a demonstration of “You don’t need to Be considered a Baby to Cry,” a tune they uncovered on the trunk of Tennessee Ernie Ford’s “Sixteen Plenty.” They called themselves the Caravelles following the French airliner. An area company, BPR Information, liked the demonstration and redid the tune in a specialist studio room. It became a huge hit in britain and was found by Smash Information for UNITED STATES distribution; it almost aced the Billboard graph before nesting at number 3 on Dec 21, 1963. Smash released many more singles through the duo including “Don’t Blow Your Great” in 1964 and “Hey Mama, You’ve Been on My Brain” in 1967. Ultimately, Wilkinson left to look solo, documented as Lois Street, married, and made an appearance on BBC’s applications singing pop strikes. Simpson continued using the Caravelles executing live with different partners through the entire ’80s and ’90s.
