The Cairos

Washington, D.C.’s the Cairos documented one particular record for Raynoma Liles, Gordy Singleton, and Eddie Singleton’s Shrine label. Miss Ray, Barry Gordy’s second wife, began Shrine with her brand-new hubby after both bounced from Motown. Shrine (situated in D.C.) released the peppy “End Overlooking Me” b/w “Don’t Combat It” in 1966; it flopped similar to the various other 18 singles bearing the Shrine logo design. Keni St. Lewis, Tommy Montier, Famon Johnson, Gerald Richardson, and Wilford Ruffin had been the Cairos. Their just various other appearance was support (uncredited) Shrine musician Shirley Edwards on “Wish My Heart” b/w “It’s Your Appreciate,” also in 1966. Famon Johnson’s tone of voice is certainly familiar to music fans world-wide; with William Britt, he supplied the support vocals on Billy Stewart’s (also a D.C. indigenous) “I REALLY DO Like You” (1965), and most likely “Sitting down in the Recreation area,” slice the same time. St. Lewis created his songwriting abilities at Shrine, providing the Epsilons as well as the D.C. Blossoms with materials. He was using the Enjoyables before and following the Cairos, and later on chirped using the Dreams (aka Frankie Karl & the Dreams) on the D.C. Audio Small recordings from 1968-1970. St. Lewis discovered his niche like a songwriter. Collaborating with fellow Washingtonian Freddie Perren who, as an associate of the organization, helped to help make the Jackson Five superstars, St. Lewis co-wrote some monsters. The illustrious list includes Michael Jackson’s “Farewell My Summer time Like”; the Sylvers’ “Boogie Fever,” “Natural cotton Chocolate,” and “Warm Collection”; and Tavares’ “Don’t Get rid of the Music,” “Heaven SHOULD BE Missing an Angel,” and “Whodunit.” Gerald Richardson also sang using the Enjoyables.
