The Brood

Portland, ME garage area rock and roll revivalists the Brood formed in 1983 round the skills of Chris Horne (acoustic guitar and vocals), Crystal Light (drums), Betsy Mitchell (bass), and Asch Gregory (body organ). The band’s debut solitary “And I UNDERSTAND” appeared within the Oct 1985 problem of underground garage area rock and roll publication 99th Ground Fanzine #7 on the Flexidisc EP, and was adopted in 1986 by “Composing on the Wall structure” and “You Lied if you ask me Before,” both which appeared within the various-artist compilations Fatal Spawn as well as the Sounds of Today, respectively. The music group continued release a singles and appearance on compilations in expectation of their 1988 debut LP Regardless of EVERYTHING, a 16-monitor onslaught of punk-infused, ’60s-motivated fuzz-rock that predated the mainstream garage area rock revival from the past due ’90s/early 2000s by almost ten years. The Brood continued release a three even more albums, including Vendetta (1991), Hitsville (1995), and Beyond the Valley from the Brood (2000), the last mentioned of which highlighted a mock soundtrack cover that depicted the quartet as a woman group known as the “Swizzle Chicks.”
