The Breakaways

The Breakaways were a short-lived combo that filled the gap between Peter Case and Paul Collins’ use the seminal power pop music group the Nerves and their later on groups the Plimsouls as well as the Defeat. In 1978, the Nerves found an end following the departure of guitarist Jack port Lee, and Case and Collins thought we would keep carefully the momentum heading by forming a fresh music group, the Breakaways. While Lee have been the main songwriter in the Nerves, Case and Collins noticed the Breakaways as an opportunity to display even more of their skills, and they started with some intensive songwriting classes within their rehearsal space, situated in the same substantial cellar as the LA punk mecca/dive the Masque.
