The Children were a quartet from London’s Kentish City who met up in 1963 and produced their debut a calendar year later, support Sandra Barry on her behalf one “Really Gonna Tremble” b/w “WHENEVER WE Get Married” on Decca, before reducing their only public discharge, “It Ain’t Good b/w “I’D LIKE You” for Pye that same calendar year. Their line-up contains Reg Ruler on vocals, Alan Ruler on electric guitar, Mike Evans on bass, and Roger Powell on drums–they acquired a good, even r&b inspired pop-rock audio, with a fairly bold attack on the equipment. By 1965, they’d renamed and revamped themselves as The Actions and jumped to Parlophone, where George Martin had taken them under his wing.
