The Blue Dogs

Biography

Not to end up being confused with the avant-garde jazz combo Blue Pet or the choice rock clothing Blue Pet Pict, the Blue Canines are an earthy, down-home origins rock/country-rock/Southern rock-band from SC. The twangy, extremely Southern-sounding Blue Canines were shaped in Charleston, SC, in 1987 by lead vocalist/guitarist Bobby Houck and bassist Hank Futch, who got known one another since years as a child and played collectively in university. Drummer Greg Walker arrived later, becoming a member of the music group in 1993. Initially, the Blue Canines had been acoustic-oriented and performed a whole lot of bluegrass and nation covers. However in the first ’90s, they proceeded to go electrical and shifted their concentrate to roots rock and roll, country-rock, and Southern rock and roll; the artists who’ve influenced the electrical version from the Blue Canines add the Wallflowers and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers to Small Feat and John Cougar Mellencamp. The Blue Canines’ first recording arrived in 1991, if they released Music for Pet People independently Dark River label. That recording was accompanied by 1993’s Spirit Dogfood and 1995’s Road Theater, both which will also be on Dark River. While those three produces were filled with cover tracks, the Blue Canines’ fourth recording, The Blue Canines (that was made by John Alagia and arrived in 1997) designated the very first time that one of the albums contained only original materials. In 1998, the music group recorded its 5th recording, For the Record, a live Compact disc that was accompanied by a studio room effort titled Words From Round O (that was made by Cracker’s David Lowery in 1999). The Blue Canines’ seventh discharge, Live on the Florence Small Theater, was documented in 1998 but didn’t in fact turn out until 2002. For the Blue Canines, personnel can transform from one record to another; a Blue Canines record (either live or studio room) will typically consist of core members alongside what could possibly be called an expanded category of fellow Southern music artists. In the first 2000s, the primary from the music group included Houck, Futch, Walker, and guitarist David Stewart (who became a member of in 1998).
