Biography
Their sound veering from post-grunge balladry to funk and ambient breakbeat to Madchester acid house, the Beta Band emerged in the United kingdom scene as (nominally) a pop group with few similarities to any various other act going. Shaped around three close friends originally from Edinburgh — vocalist Steve Mason, drummer Robin Jones, and DJ/sampler John Maclean — the group afterwards drafted bassist Richard Greentree. Scant a few months after developing, the Beta Music group added a formidable ally in attaining exposure: supervisor Brian Cannon, the developer responsible for just about any Oasis sleeve released compared to that stage. The group’s initial EP, 1997’s Champ Versions, featured blending with the Verve’s Nick McCabe. Two extra EPs implemented in early 1998, The Patty Patty Audio and Los Amigos del Beta Bandidos. After collecting all three EPs with an record, the Beta Music group began recording because of their correct debut, a self-titled work released in 1999. While prepping for the discharge of the sophomore effort, Scorching Pictures II, in summertime 2001, the Beta Music group scored the starting slot machine on Radiohead’s monumental summertime tour of america. Initial recordings because of their next LP started around once; after self-producing the record and eventually passing it to Nigel Godrich for your final combine, the group released Heroes to Zeros in springtime 2004. Just a couple months afterwards, the Beta Music group announced they might disband by the end of 2004, citing the annoyance of much important compliment but no industrial impact. THE VERY BEST from the Beta Music group — a two-disc bundle containing among their last shows — premiered in 2005. Mason continued to release materials as Ruler Biscuit Period (which had in fact debuted in 1998), Dark Affair, and his very own name.
