Having received together in the summertime of 2000 using what the group telephone calls “a collaboration between two Doners and two Matts,” the Benny took form between brothers Tobin (bass) and Brandon Doner (percussion), Matthew Durno (vocals/guitar), and Matthew Bannister(guitar/tips). Having developed on famous brands Led Zeppelin and Green Floyd with yet another dosage of Radiohead and Wilco, the Benny’s audio took shape using a cross types of sonic guitars, vocal harmonies, and a lyrical disarray of poor times. After a calendar year of playing throughout their indigenous of Toronto, the band’s initial self-released full-length entitled Mess arrived in 2001.
