Provided on CBS in Sept 1966, this apparent takeoff in the Beatles name just lasted one time of year. The Beagles had been two animated canines, Stringer and Tubby, whose identities had been built roughly in the old comedic antics of Abbott & Costello and Laurel & Hardy. The series’ idea included the canines getting put into several ventures instigated by their supervisor, Scotty, where in fact the duo would find out a very important lesson that they might base a tune around. The display was made by Total Tv, the designers of Underdog and Tennessee Tuxedo. As the toon just lasted 2 yrs (including a short appearance on ABC), an record premiered on Columbia’s spending budget label, Tranquility, in 1967, offering mock Chad & Jeremy tunes, including “Searching for the Beagles,” “Become the Captain,” “Humpty Dumpty,” and “Because of the person in the Moon.” This uncommon soundtrack recording was re-released on limited-edition Compact disc in 1995 with We’re the Banana Splits. As the music continues to be retrieved, regrettably the toon itself continues to be lost.
