The Battered Wives

The Canadian punk rock-band the Battered Wives formed in 1977. Early associates were lead vocalist and guitarist Toby Swann, bassist Larry “Jasper” Klassen, and drummer Cleave Anderson. Afterwards, vocalist and guitarist John Gibb became a member of the lineup, and after Anderson departed the picture, drummer Patrick Mooney emerged on board too. Among 1978 and 1980, the Battered Wives documented several singles and three albums, occasionally working beneath the shorter and much less controversial name from the Wives.
