The Backsliders were an alternative-traditional country-rock music group from NEW YORK comprised of guitarist Steve Howell, frontman and acoustic guitarist Chip Robinson, bassman Danny Kurtz, Jeff Dennis on drums, and Brad Grain rounding things out along with his guitar. In 1994, motivated by Buck Owens, Webb Pierce, as well as the honky tonk lifestyle, Howell and Robinson come up with the Backsliders and began playing clubs within their region. Both Howell and Robinson had been working with additional acts at that time. Robinson was using a rock-band and Howell was an associate from the Shady Grove Music group, a normal bluegrass clothing that documented for Flying Seafood. Throwin’ Stones in the Moon, made by Western Coastline patriarch Pete Anderson, was documented at Mad Puppy Studios through the early fall of 1996. Saying that it had been the grade of the songwriting that swayed him to defend myself against the Backsliders, Anderson proceeded to grab all the halts and gleaned every ounce of skill and sweat the band had to provide. After completing Throwin’ Stones on the Moon, nevertheless, interpersonal problems started ripping the Backsliders aside on the seams, and with time Robinson was the lone staying original member still left. He proceeded to record 1999’s Southern Lines generally as a single project, though it still made an appearance beneath the Backsliders name.
