The Backbeats

A cappella spirit, pop, and rock and roll group the Backbeats were formed as sort of collegiate super vocal group, with people drawn from additional singing groups within the a cappella picture at USC, Brigham Adolescent University, UCLA as well as the Los Angeles Nation High School from the Executing Arts. Basing themselves in in L.A., the group contains sopranos Joanna Jones and Kelley Jakle, alto Rachel Saltzman, tenors Jordan Pharoah and Eitan Nir, baritone Kenton Chen, bass Todd G. Levin, and vocal percussionist Courtney Jensen. After contending on the next time of year of NBC’s The Sing-Off, the Backbeats documented a debut recording, The Backbeats through the Sing-Off, which presented a cappella variations of varied pop and spirit hits. The recording premiered early in 2012.
