The Avatars

Shaped in Ann Arbor, MI, in the planting season of 2003, the Avatars lost little time creating themselves among the popular and well-respected rings in the Detroit-area music scene. Playing straightforward rock and roll & roll filled with pop hooks, garage area rock and roll swagger, and an R&B undertow for the people who sensed like dance, the Avatars highlighted many veterans of significant Michigan rings. Guitarist Chris “Container” Taylor used Mazinga and Powertrane; drummer Claudia Leo held time for brand-new influx revivalists Rael Raen; and vocalist Mariah Cherem sang using the Done Wrongs, which also highlighted potential Von Bondies associates Jason Stollsteimer and Don Blum. With bassist Theresa Kiefer rounding out the lineup, the Avatars shortly found themselves writing stages using the cream from the Detroit-area rock and roll community, like the Von Bondies, the Places, the Gore Gore Young ladies, as well as the Detroit Cobras, and in November of 2003, the group documented its first one, featuring the music “Wait around” and “THERE IS a period.” By enough time the record premiered in early 2004, the Avatars acquired expanded right into a five-piece by adding second guitarist Charlie Lorenzi, who, like Leo, previously used the Argentine group Thee Coronados.
