The Ataris

Biography

The Ataris have produced several full-length recordings of relatively cookie-cutter pop-punk. Acquiring more impact from mainstream option acts compared to the punk performers they tour with, the Ataris had been found out by Vandals creator Joe Escalante in early 1997, after songwriter Kris Roe fulfilled him in a Vandals concert. Impressed by his demonstration tape, Escalante asked Roe to construct a full music group and record for his label, Kung-Fu Information. Vocalist/guitarist Roe found and relocated to California searching for bandmates, and finally added guitarist Marco Peña, bassist Mike Davenport, and previous Lagwagon drummer Derrick Plourde. Plourde was later on replaced by fresh drummer Chris Knapp. The recently formed Ataris produced their 1st record, Anywhere But Right here, for Kung-Fu and quickly found the see of Excess fat Wreck Chords owner Excess fat Mike. Realizing the chance to move to some more powerful, better-grounded label, the Ataris willingly authorized to Body fat Wreck. They quickly released an EP, Anticipate Failure, made by many members from the Descendents. Early in 1999, the music group released their second full-length recording, Blue Skies, Broken Hearts…Following 12 Exits. Following the album’s launch, they toured with MxPx, blink-182, and Homegrown before issuing ALLOW IT Burn off in 2000. End Is definitely Forever adopted in 2001, and the Ataris produced the leap towards the majors with 2003’s SUCH A LONG TIME, Astoria on Columbia. The recording featured fresh guitarist John Collura; it offered well and songs like “WITH THIS Diary” as well as the Don Henley cover “The Kids of Summer time” were effective on MTV and the present day rock graphs. Live in the Metro adopted in Feb 2004, though very little else music group activity happened that 12 months. After spending almost a year recording their 5th recording and Astoria follow-up, the Ataris thought we would keep Columbia in early summer time 2006 amid very much turnover within the label’s personnel and rumors of the impending merger with Epic. The album’s July launch was consequently postponed, though the music group pressed on label-less with several South American tour schedules. Sonic and lineup adjustments acquired also ensued, and by this time around, the music group (using its brand-new post-rock vibe) was having an impressive seven associates: Roe, Collura, guitarist/vocalist Paul Carabello, cellist Angus Cooke, keyboardist Bob Hoag, bassist Sean Hansen, and drummer Shane Chikeles. They ultimately created their very own label, Isola Recordings, and by way of a relationship with Sanctuary finally released Welcome the night time, a darker, even more rock-based work, in Feb 2007.
