The Asphodells

A collaboration between Andrew Weatherall and Timothy J. Fairplay (previously from the angular-rock music group Battant), the Asphodells make psychedelic dance music motivated by dub, disco, and post-punk. Weatherall and Fairplay fulfilled when Battant enlisted the manufacturer to accomplish a remix of their tune “Kevin (1989).” A few of their early paths made an appearance on Weatherall’s 2012 combine album Masterpiece, aswell as on Daniel Avery’s Fabriclive 66 combine. The duo’s full-length debut Ruled by Interest, Destroyed by Lust — which got its name through the tagline of the homosexual gladiator film poster through the ’70s — found its way to early 2013 on Weatherall’s Rotters DRIVER label.
