The Almost

The Almost can be an emo solo project by Aaron Gillespie, drummer and occasional lead singer for Underoath, the Christian metalcore outfit he co-founded in 1998. Choosing to turn out from behind the skins like his idol Dave Grohl before him, the Florida-bred Gillespie (who relocated to Sodium Lake Town in early 2007, pursuing his relationship) wished to explore another store for his songwriting beyond his hard-hitting primary gig. Written as Underoath had been documenting their critically acclaimed 2006 recording, Define the fantastic Line (and documented immediately after that album’s conclusion), the tracks for the Almost’s melodically willing debut record, 2007’s Southern Weather conditions, are pointedly missing Underoath’s metalcore audio; the album’s first one, “State It Quicker,” includes a tempo guitar track straight motivated by Johnny Cash’s first musical partner, Luther Perkins, amongst others. Although Gillespie performed every one of the musical instruments on Southern Weather conditions, that was jointly released by Teeth & Toe nail and Virgin, he shaped a full-band edition of the Nearly for touring reasons. This incarnation highlighted Gillespie on vocals, guitarist Jay Vilardi, bassist Alex Aponte, and drummer Kenny Bozich. Because of their second record, Monster Monster, Gillespie chosen a far more collaborative method of the songwriting and brought the complete band in to the studio room with him, producing the step from solo task to actual music group. The album premiered in ’09 2009 by Tooth & Toe nail. Fear WITHIN OUR Bone fragments, the group’s third long-player, implemented in 2013.
