Tha Brigade

A 90s Swedish hip-hop collective, Tha Brigade include Siege, Uppercut, Cymebeline-Scratchcliffer and Capo Boia, who have been all born within their local Gothenburg in the turn from the 70s. They in fact formed before departing school, adopting the original hip-hop tradition of breakdancing and graffiti from as soon as 1985. They documented their debut EP, First Bloodstream – The Evolutionary Promo, on the bedroom-based porta-studio in 1993. Although released in limited amounts, it did catch the attention of the attention from the UK-based rapper Cutting tool, who helped these to protected more wide-spread distribution. Unlike additional Swedish rappers (such as for example Leila K. and Deep Fried), Tha Brigade provide a hardcore variant of Scandinavian hip-hop, influenced from the west coastline gangsta rap of Snow Cube or Cypress Hill.
