Tex And The Chex

Tex & the Chex were a fresh York group that, with some employees changes, evolved in to the Magicians, famous (among ’60s enthusiasts anyway) because of their inventive, ominous 1965 one “An Invitation to Cry,” that was included on the Nuggets compilation. Tex & the Chex had been an interracial group that included potential Magician Alan Gordon, Mike Appel (afterwards to control and generate Bruce Springsteen), bassist Everett Jacobs, and vocalist Rod Bristow. Nevertheless, Bristow was changed by Garry Bonner, Everett Jacobs with the unrelated Jake Jacobs, and Appel by John Townley. The group documented a unitary on Atlantic, “My Like,” compiled by Bristow and “I REALLY DO Like You.”
