Terry Holder

b. c. 1898, Tx, USA. Holder’s early history is incredibly sketchy, but by the first 20s he was well-established as business lead trumpet and primary soloist with Alphonso Trent’s essential place music group. In the center of the 10 years he shaped his own music group, the Dark Clouds Of Pleasure, which was located in Dallas, Tx. In 1929, while going through financial and local stress, Holder resigned as well as the music group was bought out by one of is own leading sidemen, Andy Kirk. Although Kirk maintained a lot of the first name, contacting the music group the Clouds Of Pleasure, Holder was undeterred and shaped a new music group using the same name as before. He continuing to try out into the middle-30s, having a number of excellent musicians who utilized his as well as other place bands as schooling grounds before attaining major success somewhere else. Among the performers who used Holder at different times had been Don Byas, Budd Johnson, Herschel Evans, Earl Bostic, Carl ‘Tatti’ Smith and Pal Tate. After folding his music group in the past due 30s Holder drifted in and out of music, under no circumstances making the discovery into national popularity. Reputedly an excellent participant, Holder was still functioning intermittently in to the 60s. It should be assumed that he’s now useless, although like his music, his demise has truly gone unrecorded.
