A number of the world’s most unusual noises are made by Sardinia-based group Tenores de Oniferi. Rooted in Sardinia’s polyphonic performing custom, the group was explained by Pole Stradling of Musical Customs as “more youthful, quicker and harder….both even more suitable for a ‘world music’ audience and nearer to the tradition.” Located in Oniferi, a city within the central Barbagia portion of the isle, Tenores de Oniferei represents the eyesight of business lead vocalist Francesca Pirisi and his twin sibling, Giovanni, who sings counter-top tenor.
