Tembo Brothers

Led by attention-shunning John Chibadura, the Tembo Brothers have grown to be perhaps one of the most popular youthful rings in Zimbabwe, playing the mbira-rhumba fusion referred to as rumbira. The music group shaped in 1985 and instantly drew attention due to Chibadura’s intense tone of voice and achingly poignant lyrics. Even though the rumbira beat can be fast and furious, Chibadura’s tracks often describe downbeat misery: damaged families, extreme dowries, wasted possibilities. The sorrowfulness from the lyrics notwithstanding, the Tembo Brothers like a substantial pursuing among the youthful in Zimbabwe, where tracks like “5,000 Dollars” and “Nhamo Yatakawona” are teenage anthems.
