The longplayer brought an additional flavor of off globe dysfunction with bleak digital soundscapes explored by robotic defeat probes, precisely manufactured at Byrnes’ studio room in his hometown of Bergen for the western coastline of Norway. In the first weeks of 2001, Teebee founded the Subtitles label with fellow Norwegian Kjetil Saagstad. Arriving filled with solemn images and unusual monitor game titles, the basslines from the Teebee created debut “Gathering”, drifted like smoke cigarettes tossed up from a swirling percussive dervish with seriously reverbed crucial sequences underpinning Photek-like defeat details. The label offers continuing to outmaneuver its contemporaries, Byrnes concentrating towards the ground as Saagstad supplied the abstraction. Though his second record for Certificate 18, Through THE ATTENTION OF THE Scorpion, proved practically indistinguishable from his debut – his knowledge in contrasting eerie orchestration with intensely reverbed melodic shades which twists amongst sharp rhythmic architecture seduced yet more supporters to his audio.
