Tchico Tchicaya

Affectionately referred to as “the golden voice of Africa,” Tchico Tchicaya has crafted his unique design of soukous simply by blending African rumba with salsa, Afro-Latin, Cuban, and Caribbean influences. Tchicaya initial attracted interest in the ’80s as an associate of Brazzaville-based music group les Bantous de la Capitale. He sometimes collaborated with important Zairean group Alright Jazz Music group and documented with le Groupe Kilimandjaro and Tchico & the Officials. As well as vocalist Passi-Jo, he shaped the soukous group Waranko Musica in the past due ’90s. In 2001, the music group featured background performers and dancers Leona Chisala and Patrice Lumumba, percussionist Aho Lowani, drummer Robbie Avenaim, keyboards participant Michael Havir, tempo guitarist Jim Swanston, and bass guitarist Conrad Henderson.
