Taylor Ho Bynum is really a Baltimore-born cornetist whose wide-ranging music interests include free of charge jazz, modern structure, and interdisciplinary tasks with dancers and filmmakers. He’s also an educator that has led the Northeastern College or university jazz ensembles. After dealing with trombonist Expenses Lowe at Northeastern during senior high school, Bynum researched with Anthony Braxton at Wesleyan College or university, where he graduated in 1998. In 1999, he made an appearance on two Braxton albums, in addition to And Only Existence My Lush Lament, a duo recording with Eric Rosenthal. 2 yrs later, Bynum performed on Trio Former mate Nihilo with Curt Newton and Jeff Music, and he documented with Alan Silva’s Sound Visions Orchestra. In 2002, Bynum performed on Relationship of Heaven and Globe by the Completely Celebrated Orchestra, in addition to albums of duets with Rosenthal and Braxton. He also shaped the SpiderMonkey Strings, an ensemble comprising cornet, string quartet, and guitar. Also that fall, Bynum came back to Wesleyan School to pursue a master’s level in music structure. He still, nevertheless, continued to execute with the Completely Celebrated Orchestra as well as other groupings in Boston and NY. In 2007, Bynum debuted his Sextet using the album THE CENTER Picture. 2 yrs afterwards, he collaborated using the SpiderMonkey Strings and vocalist Kyoko Kitamura on Madeleine Dreams. Then came back to his sextet, getting up to speed guitarists Mary Halvorson and Evan O’Reilly for 2009’s Asphalt Blooms Forking Paths. This year 2010, the cornetist joined up with saxophonist Rodrigo Amado, bassist John Hébert, and drummer Gerald Cleaver for the ambitious Looking for Adam. Then matched with bassoonist Sara Schoenbeck and guitarist Joe Morris for 2011’s Obvious Distance. 2 yrs afterwards, he debuted his 7-Tette with Navigation (Likelihood Abstracts XII & XIII). The trio work Reserve of Three, offering Hébert and Cleaver, made an appearance in 2014. In 2016, Bynum shipped Enter the Plustet, which showcased a 15-member ensemble comprised of several associates of his Sextet and 7-tette, including trumpeter Nate Wooley, guitarist Mary Halvorson, saxophonist Matt Bauder, among others.
