Tasha Thomas

Biography

Disco diva Tasha Thomas was created in Jeutyn, AK, to some dad who worked for the Atomic Energy Fee and a mom who was simply ordained being a Pentecostal minister. She started playing the body organ and performing in her mother’s cathedral; when she transferred to NEW YORK during the later ’60s to pursue music, she used with another cathedral choir by way of a connection of her mother’s. Her participation using the choir resulted in a gig performing back-up vocals on Louis Armstrong’s 1968 Just what a Great World record, and following that she moved right into a profession in secular music being a much-sought-after program vocalist. She sang behind countless superstars of the 10 years, including Stevie Wonder (Innervisions), B.B. Ruler, James Dark brown, Grover Washington Jr., Kitty Stevens, Carly Simon, Edgar and Johnny Wintertime, Jim Croce, and many more. For the time being, she performed in jazz night clubs around NEW YORK, and in 1975 she debuted on Broadway as Auntie Em in the initial production from the Wiz. Ultimately, that gig resulted in a cope with the small unbiased disco label Orbit, which released her debut single single “Capture Me (TOGETHER WITH YOUR Like)” in 1978. Its reputation in dance night clubs attracted the eye of Atlantic, which found the one and agreed upon Thomas for the full-length record. Midnight Rendezvous premiered in 1979, and spun off two even more disco strikes in “Sizzling Buttered Boogie” and “Road Fever.” Sadly, Thomas’ health got a switch for the worse; she was identified as having tumor and spent a lot of the first ’80s battling the condition. She passed on on November 8, 1984, in the tragically early age of 33.
