Tanya Stephens (given birth to Vivienne Stephenson on July 2, 1973) was perhaps one of the most promising feminine reggae performers to emerge in the past due ’90s. Stephens captured her big break in 1996, when her females anthem, “Yuh Nuh Prepared fi Dis However,” caused a significant stir (afterwards spotlighted over the Reggae Silver 1997 compilation), as she immediately after began dealing with such acclaimed companies as Barry O’Hare, Bobby “Digital” Dixon, Harvel “Gadaffi” Hart, and Dave and Tony Kelly. Upcoming singles implemented, including “Pull fi Mi Finger,” “Freaky Type,” and “Cry and Bawl,” along with the full-length produces Too Buzz in 1997 and Ruff Rider a calendar year afterwards (Stephens also added support vocals on Garnett Silk’s 1998 discharge Trip). She after that transferred to Sweden and started recording some alternative rock monitors. Disappointed with her brand-new direction, she came back to reggae in 2004 with Gangsta Blues and its own big hit one “Increase Wuk.” The ambitious Rebelution made an appearance in 2006 with feminine empowerment as its concentrate.
