Tail Dragger & His Chicago Blues Band

Wayne Yancy Jones, aka Tail Dragger, was created in Altheimer, AR, in 1940. He was raised by his grandparents and was affected as a kid by the electrical Chicago blues of Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, and specifically Chester Burnett, the Howlin’ Wolf. Jones was a Howlin’ Wolf devotee, because of his deep, gruff tone of voice. After shifting to Chicago in the ’60s, he started using blues legends around the Western Part and South Part. It had been Howlin’ Wolf who offered Jones the name “Tail Dragger” due to his habit of turning up past due to gigs. When Jones 1st appeared around the Chicago blues circuit he was referred to as Crawlin’ Wayne. Several local Western Part and South Part blues performers, including Hubert Sumlin, Carey Bell, Eddie Shaw, Mack Simmons, and Willie Kent, got their begin playing in Tail Dragger’s rings. The difficult way of life that plays a part in many blues lyrics swept up with Tail Dragger in 1993 when he shot and wiped out fellow bluesman Boston Blackie, supposedly over earnings owed from a display. Jones spent 17 weeks within an Illinois prison. Following many years of playing juke joint parts and releasing a small number of singles, his initial full-length disk, Crawlin’ Kingsnake, premiered in 1996. 3 years afterwards he came back with American People in the renowned Chicago blues and jazz label Delmark. My Mind Is certainly Bald: Live at Vern’s Friendly Lounge implemented in 2005 on Delmark, which also released a Dvd movie of the present beneath the same title.
