This saxophonist earned a doctorate in musicology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1982. Inspired by R&B sax guy Ruler Curtis, he performed within a Kansas Town jazz group. Today he plays just gospel-oriented music, touring using a 13-member combo.
