Although he achieved acknowledgement for his function in modern, pianist Szakcsi amazed many listeners along with his inventive 1994 GRP launch Straight Ahead, which found him leading a trio/quartet through a couple of acoustic jazz originals. Szakcsi signed up for the Budapest Supplementary College of Music at age 12 and experienced originally planned to be always a jazz pianist. In his 20s he performed in European countries with Artwork Farmer, Charlie Mariano, and Slip Hampton. Szakcsi ultimately became an instrumental pop celebrity, but on his GRP day he demonstrated that possibly there’s life after modern.
